Matar Panir recipe

Matar Paneer is a popular North Indian dish made with green peas (matar) and paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a spicy tomato-onion gravy. It is commonly served with roti, naan, or rice.

Ingredients

200 grams paneer (cut into cubes) 1 cup green peas (matar) 2 tomatoes (pureed) 1 onion (finely chopped) 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste 1–2 green chilies (chopped) 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon red chili powder 1 teaspoon coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon garam masala 2 tablespoons oil or ghee Salt (to taste) Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish) Instructions Heat oil or ghee in a pan and sauté the onion until golden. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies and cook for 1 minute. Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well. Add green peas and cook for 3–4 minutes. Add about 1 cup water and let it simmer. Add paneer cubes and cook for 4–5 minutes. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with coriander leaves.
